Configure Facebook Application ID
Already migrated to the new Facebook interface or the screenshots do not match up? Follow this guide instead
To fully use the premium version and the advanced options you will need to configure a facebook API Key. The reason why this is needed is because facebook requires that only registered applications can use specific features, such as the hide on like and the connect functionality. If you are already rolled over to the new Facebook dashboard (picture below does not match), follow this guide instead.
In some cases, you will be required to verify the identity of your Facebook account first. If you are presented with such a screen, Facebook has documenten how to setup a developers account.
Goto Facebook’s App Dashboard, click on the button called “Create New App”. You will be asked for a name, you could enter your brand or website name, the other information is not required. Click continue.
You are now presented with a option screen, it is important to fill this out correctly.
- At “app domain” enter the full domain of the website you want to plugin to function on. If you run it on http://www.example.com/blog/ , enter example.com.
- Select “Website with Facebook Login” At “Site URL” enter the full base url on which the script runs (f.e. http://www.example.com/ ).
Input the number from “App ID” into the “App Id / API Key” field in the advanced section of the plugin. Don’t forget to click “Save Changes”. Your app is now ready and the plugin is ready to use. If you are facing compatibility issues with other social plugins, make sure that they use the same API Key or select the compatibility mode.
The following image is a screenshot of how it should look like, if you have any questions our support will gladly help you in the process. Remember that you should replace the domain and siteurl to you own website:
